First edition

Pierre-Augustin Caron de BEAUMARCHAIS Le mariage de Figaro

Pierre-Augustin Caron de BEAUMARCHAIS

Le mariage de Figaro

De L'Imprimerie de la Société Littéraire Typographique; chez Ruault, Paris 1785, in-8 (15,9x24cm), lj, 199pp. (1), relié.

Second issue of the first edition and first illustrated edition. The first issue appeared only two months before it. In this second printing was added five boards Malapeau King and from St. Quentin. No less than 16 editions appeared on the same date. Note that this edition was printed by the care of the author himself, in Kehl, and he took the characters that were used to print the works of Voltaire.
Bound in full sheepskin speckled brown and vintage ice. Back smooth decorated. As an exhibit in black leather. Triple mentoring net on the boards. Caps and corners restored. Few scattered spots.
Mad expectations of the public and comedians following the Barber of Seville and the delay caused by censorship (including the king himself) explains some of the many counterfeit Marriage of Figaro. We know that the spirit of the Revolution found a powerful symbol in the character of Figaro. --- Please note that the translation in english is done automatically, we apologize if the formulas are inaccurate.
