Contemporary half brown shagreen over marbled paper boards, spine in five compartments (a little rubbed) spotted in gilt and with gilt fillets, a small lack to edge of head-piece, marbled endpapers and pastedowns.
Rare autograph inscription signed and dated by Jean-Baptiste Clément : "A un artiste qui n'est pas comme tant d'autres : au citoyen Joseph Ferdinand Bernard. Paris Montmartre [To an artist who is not like so many others: to citizen Joseph Ferdinand Bernard. Paris Montmartre]."
Occasional spotting, two marginal stains to final pages of contents and errata leaf at end.
