First edition, illustrated with a frontispiece and 5 beautiful and delicate figures by Cochin, engraved by Saint-Aubin, Masquellier, Born, Pelletier ... Quite rare. "One of the most successful Cochin illustrations, and more remarkably engraved." Cohen.
Full red morocco old nineteenth end unsigned doubled on contreplats blue morocco with wide lace framing. Mors, caps and corners rubbed. 2 corners bumped. Gilt edges.
This prose poem is a lovely pastoral composed by a young girl of 18 years, the origin of Thanksgiving depicts Venus and the Graces, the poem is decorated with small pieces autrres. Writing agreed but within the rules of this kind was that pastoral style which Theocritus was the model and experienced numerous works in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
