First edition

; 76pp. (2) 82pp. (8), trois parties reliées en un volume.

French-Latin Edition. Each chapter heading is adorned with an unsigned band. The book is followed by a section on clarification of baianisme and another containing documents. Full red morocco time. Back with five nerves ornate coffered and gilded finials. Gold on the caps and cuts roulette. Triple blind fillets coaching boards. Back somewhat insolated. Cap head shaved. Corners slightly bumped. The baianisme developed by Michel Baius was early condemned as heresy because it followed closely the famous Council of Trent in 1542 and contradicted many precepts. For his thoughts on grace and original innocence of man, the refutation of original sin, free will that comes from the first innocence of man, the baianisme is the foundation on which will be built in Jansenism early seventeenth. Add that the theologians who toiled for renewal of Christian thought, focusing their work on a rejection of scholastic legacy of Thomas Aquinas and a legacy of Saint Augustine considered themselves no other than Catholic. History is divided into five books: the first two relate the life of Michel Baius, doctrine and actions that have been taken against him; in the third, Du Chesne defends the Jesuit Lessius; the fourth and fifth parts condemnation of Jansen and other major figures of the Church such as M. de Saint-Cyran, Father de Barcos or Father Gibieuf. The work was blacklisted by a decree of March 17, 1734 and therefore knew not reprinted. --- Please note that the translation in english is done automatically, we apologize if the formulas are inaccurate.
