First edition, rare, that can be translated under the title Sketch of Hokusaï, volume 15. 15 volumes have actually appeared covering the sketch work of Hokusaï. The first was published in 1815 and the last posthumously in 1878. This last posthumous volume was collected by Katano Toshiro. It contains 30 double pages with representations of people, plants and animals, mythological figures, landscapes. There are 3 colors, flesh, gray and black.
Acordon volume, connected by a seam. black blanket with wave print imitating a fabric, with title tag. Printing on mulberry paper. slightly yellowed paper. A label on the back with the name: Okusai. A lack on the lower plate revealing the cardboard. Beautiful copy in excellent condition.
The hokusai manga deals with various subjects, scenes of daily life, but also war scenes, also scenes of typically Japanese legends, animals and flowers.
