First edition, uncommon. Full sheepskin marbled time. Back tooled raised. Part of title in beige calf, and volume number in black calf. Small friction, especially at the corners. A slight lack in tail headdress of Volume I. Good copy. Excellent work and very helpful which was attributed to Voltaire and Raynal and draws all controversies that shook the world of science and literature from Homer until the eighteenth. It will include portraits of Socrates and Greek letters, the poets of the sixteenth century, the quarrel between the ancients and moderns, that encyclopaedists, jesters, of Gallillée, Jesuits, the Sorbonne, Furetiere, Fontenelle, Fenelon , Abelard, Racan on poetry, drama and eloquence ... A very useful table of contents can be in 4 volumes writers or scientists, Marot, Louise Labbé or Voltaire. The story written for a different way, in terms of censorship and revolutions.
