Edition to the sphere. Rare. The work published in Italy, Ragusa, the following year. Full brown calf ca 1820. spine ribbed croisillonné cold, gilded threads and wheels. Geometric decoration framing the cold boards. Gilt edges. Friction. Slight lack of leather tail. Good copy. Gregorio Leti (1630-1701) is the pseudonym of Gulio Capocoda, authors of many anti Catholic pamphlets. Capocoda converted to Protestantism and settled in Geneva. He was then the historian of Charles II in England. The story of Donna Olympia tells the story of a courtesan at the court of Rome, in fact, who would become Pope Innocent X was his half brother.
