LUCRECE & Denys LAMBIN De rerum natura libri sex

LUCRECE & Denys LAMBIN

De rerum natura libri sex

In Gulielmi Rouillij et Philippi G. Rouillij [Rouillé], Parisiis [Paris] 1564, in-4 (14,5x22,3cm), (24) 559pp., relié.

First edition on the date of 1564 and not 1563 as most of the copies. (See Brunet: 'This first edition of Lucrece Lambin of which it is dated 1564 copies ...'). Copies to date in 1564 are naturally rarer than those on the right date, email it is the same drawing, only the date was changed. Title page in a nice frame engraved allegorical. The text of Lucrece is in Italics and each time characters, twenty to be followed by the comment, longer than the original text. Copy large arms stamped cold silver on a bend azure, charged with a golden sun, Jacques Claude Claret de la Tourette, Knight, Lord de la Tourette, Fleurieu St. Pierre ... Secretary the king and crown of France home and finances in the generality of Lyons, patron of painters and sculptors, the president of the Tourette had formed a large library that his son grew, she became the most beautiful and most important Lyon has hitherto confined. Full sheepskin blond eighteenth. Spine ribbed ornate. Part of title in red morocco with wheels. Caps threadbare. Bits split into head and tail. Scuffs on the boards, including an eagle weapons. Pale yellow and wetting at the beginning and middle of work, not serious. Corners bumped. Important issue in the bibliography of Lucrece. Indeed, De natura rerum does not have a lot of old editions, probably because the text has never been because of his epicurean theses, genuine interest in the fifteenth century and the Renaissance, and it was not until eighteenth to have a good French translation (the one controlled by Diderot) because it is the Enlightenment that the work will be considered in all its philosophical importance. This is the first careful and corrected edition of the text of Lucrece, and it is also the first comprehensive edition with commentary of the natura rerum. Comment and revision of text are the work of Denys Lambin, the latter confessed to have corrected as much as six hundred passages erroneous, according to several manuscripts (3 Roman and Parisian 2). Denys Lambin (1512-1576) was considered one of the greatest scholars of his time. He follows with Pierre de Ronsard and Jean Antoine de Baïf boards at the College of Jean Dorat Coqueret. it will get later the chair of Greek and Latin eloquence at the Royal College. --- Please note that the translation in english is done automatically, we apologize if the formulas are inaccurate.
