The orignale edition appeared in 1674, it contained only the first three books of the six that make up the complete edition, not including clarification (p. 471-603), found here for the first time. The other three books published in 1675, the first three separately. Great title device, brand of printer.
Bound in full brown calf contemporary. Back tooled raised. Gilt. Torn off caps. Bit split tail of the lower flat. Friction and tasks. Light brown spots on the last ten sheets in low margin. A dull corner.
Fundamental and famous book in the history of ideas in the seventeenth, where Malebranche, which is the most consistent work, makes unifying philosophy inherited from Descartes and Catholic dogma, leading to occasionalism.
