Chez Lacombe, à Paris 1775 - 1776, in-12 (9,5x17cm), 26 parties reliées en 13 volumes.

first edition of this book published contemporaryically from July 1775 to December 1776 Head collection of this contemporaryical publication which extended until 1789 and reached 112 volumes.; it is therefore very difficult to meet, even more uniform binding. We know that the first part due to the Marquis de Paulmy is the best of all, it was continued by Martin and others. (We added a 13th volume, even binding the months of February and March 1777). Full calf blond granite. Back tooled raised. Part of title in red morocco, and volume number in green morocco. Besides a very interesting critical apparatus (introductions, commentary and analysis), the library is organized in each volume according to a plan drawn up defining the various types of novels, 8 classes: translation of Greek and Latin novels, romances of chivalry, the historical novel, romance novels, novels spiritualities, satirical and comic novels, historical and news stories, wonderful stories. The first volume contains the golden ass Appulée, The Romance of Merlin, The triumph of the nine knights, Astraea, The Strange Adventures of Lycidas and Cléorithe Basire, The Satyricon, The romance of Melusine Jean d Arras, Le Dauphin by Aulnoy, Good Woman by Mademoiselle de la Force ... There are so rare novels and best known as Don Quixote. Thereafter: Prince Erastus, fairy Perraut, Perceval le Gallois, the Cyropaedia, History Zarine by Nicolas of Damascus, Perceforest king of Britain, Romans Mr. Camus, More's Utopia, and Theagenes Chariclea History knight Tristan, Argenis and Polliarque, History of John Faustus, and many new historical tales and forgotten ... Note that the medieval romances are well represented. It is not that extracts of long novels, the universal library integrating collection whose vocation is to be encyclopedic on the subject, it tends to integrate all chronologically novels from the origin to the contemporary times. --- Please note that the translation in english is done automatically, we apologize if the formulas are inaccurate.
