First edition of this Latin version given by Etienne Philippe, illustrated with a frontispiece and 16 figures by Cochin, engraved by Duflos. Beautiful headers and lamp bases, finely engraved and unsigned.
The last two volumes contain The Aeneid, the first volume brings together the other works, the Bucolics and the Georgics.
Binding in full granite and marbled calf of the time. Smooth decorated back. title labels in red morocco, volume pieces in tan morocco. Head caps torn off. Tail cap of volume II with missing. Upper joint of volume I open at the head. 4 blunt corners. Friction.

Beautiful and neat critical Latin edition, with studies, comments and notes.
