Counterfeit of The Kythera Gazette or secret story of the Countess du Barry, published the same year, attributed to François Bernard, who would have worked here with Pidansat de Mairobert.
Binding late nineteenth half hazelnut glossy calf. Back decorated with 5 small flowers. title label of red calf. Friction in the head. Brown spots at the top of the back and on the lower dish. Copy with large margins, on strong paper.
Violent pamphlet against the Countess Du Barry who appeared shortly after the disgrace of the mistress of Louis XV, then in a convent and according to the author, considered dead in the world, while the Countess reconciled later with the royal family had counterrevolutionary activities which led her to the scaffold. The work was immediately translated into English and German.
