New edition, including the first date of 1517. Text on two columns. Initials and cul-de-lamp, and 6 figures in-text family trees.
Binding open vintage parchment. Back with nerves decorated with jewels 6 black. Flat embossed in the center with an olive wreath in black framing and black cold irons in the spandrels. Center of the top plate ripped with a large missing (12x18cm). 2 slots in the lead. Frotement corners bumped, including 2 bare.
French lawyer born in 1480 and died in 1540, Chasseneux gave in his main work: The customs of Burgundy, a model and a major source for the French customary law which was used even in developing the Napoleonic Code. It has been repeatedly reprinted since the first 1517.
