New edition, after the original was published in 1587. Beaux culs-de-lamp separation. Full vellum lap of the day. Back three nerves, as in pen. Traces of laces and number of the pen on the second TV. All slices blue. Good copy. Speech compounds when De la Noue was a prisoner of King Philip II in the Netherlands at the castle of Limburg (1580-1585), in quite difficult conditions for five years. The edition comprises 26 different speeches, including the wars of religion, the state of the nobility, military strategy, historical memories, a dissertation on the philosopher's stone ... The book quickly became a classic in the field of militaria and Napoleon the first mentioned later as the Bible of the soldier.
