P. H. MALLET [DANEMARK] Histoire de Dannemarc

P. H. MALLET

[DANEMARK] Histoire de Dannemarc

Chez Barde, Manget & Compagnie & Chez Buisson, à Genève & à Paris 1787, 9 tomes en 9 Vol. in 8 (12x19cm), 9 tomes brochés.

Third and best edition; she is the most complete effect. Before composing this set, several editions have appeared: first an introduction to the history of Annemark in 1755, and which forms in this copy the first volume illustrated with a large folding map of Scandinavia. Two volumes in 4 appear a few years later, then a third. The story was then continued until 1720, and then until 1773 in this edition. Paperback, covered with a nineteenth blue paper. Labels handwritten titles and volume numbers. Excellent condition. Remarkably fresh copy and printed on heavy paper, retaining margins of publication, except for the high margin trimmed. The book is considered the best ancient history of Denmark, it is indeed well documented, and also contains a study of mythology and fables of 33 that composes the Edda, and other epics. Before the historical narrative, the first two volumes are an anthropological approach of Denmark, addressing the specificity of this country both for its geographical location and its customs and mythology. The author lived a long time in Denmark and was tutor to the prince reigning at the same time he held a professorship at the Royal College of Copenhagen. --- Please note that the translation in english is done automatically, we apologize if the formulas are inaccurate.
