French diplomat in the service of King Philip V of Spain, but also secret agent in charge of missions, such as in France round up supporters of the Spanish Bourbons in the estate of Louis XV (Philip V was indeed the son of small- Louis XIV), the abbot of Montgon writes with great clarity the court intrigues and the difficulty of his position in a European world. It does full diplomatic difficulties a world of alliances and betrayals obscure (Example desire of Spain to attack England). Montgon wrote these memoirs during his exile, he was indeed entrusted to Cardinal Fleury, who had denounced the court of France. --- Please note that the translation in english is done automatically, we apologize if the formulas are inaccurate.
