Binding in full brown calf of marbled and glazed era. Smooth back decorated with 5 boxed florets. title label in red morocco. Split bits at the head. 2 blunt corners, 2 cropped. A folding folding board.
Important study of slavery and domestic family life in Antiquity. The work contains the duties, charges and legal status of slaves and servants in everyday life, in particular gladiators, musicians, actors, tax collectors and craftsmen. Pignoria's work provides an interesting insight into the laborious existence within families in Antiquity. A short essay by Doctor Fabricius on boards and addressed to Marcus Walser closes the book. It is one of the best old treatises on the subject.
