New edition, after the original was published in 1731 and illustrated two cards trips Sethos. Full sheepskin vintage blonde. Smooth back adorned with jewels and 4 threads. Part of title and volume number in brown morocco. Threadbare heads and tails partly frayed. Mors partly split, with small gaps. Very blunt corners. Touted as the translation of a Greek romance of the time of Marcus Aurelius, this long and curious novel depicts an Egyptian prince performing after his ascension in his own country, a tour of Africa. It helps repair and injustices nations and governments that meeting. The novel is both a didactic work, including the Egyptian customs, beliefs and the organization of the state, and a utopian novel, Sethos are looking for the best government he discovered in Atlantis, a monarchy. The spirit of the work is not far either of Telemachus of Fenelon.
