This edition contains a foreword, the Secret History of Theodore Agrippa d'Aubigné, written by himself & addressed to his children, and texts attributed to Master Guillaume, pseudonym borrowed from the name of the jester of Henry IV and used by authors of satyrs, wishing to remain anonymous: The Commandments of Master Guillaume, Answer of Master Guillaume to the French soldier and the Inventory of found books in the library of Master Guillaume.
Binding full brown marbled vintage brown sheepskin. Back with nerves adorned with 4 florets, roulette tail. Title and volume pieces in red morocco. Very narrow slot in the upper joint of Volume I, head and tail. Marbled guards redone.
