First Edition. From an illustrated portrait frontispiece. Rare. Absent the BN of France, the French catalogs, the British Library and English catalogs. Vellum full time. Smooth back silent. The book is a collection of 34 historical novels, each new being followed by Christian and moral reflections. Jean Pierre Camus is indeed the first to have used fiction, ie secular means in a spiritual edification. Camus believed in the virtues of entertainment effect, as new present in this book are exclusively literary, only "reflections" that follow remind us of the spiritual project (not religious), this is all the more surprising that the modern French novel was in its infancy.
