Second edition, very rare, after that of 1673, and which would have been drawn only to 48 copies, according to the handwritten notice on the front page. Print on vellum.
Binding half calf havana corner of the late nineteenth signed Ribbon. Smooth back decorated with scrolls of foliage and flowers. title label of Havana calf. Golden slices. Traces of friction. Nice copy, perfectly fresh.
About this country trip, the preface quotes the Carpentariana (1741): "In 1673, Mrs. Colbert committed me to go to his beautiful house Sceaux, with her and several other persons of distinction.This part produced the little news history that I made, intittulated: The journey of the quiet valley, I made the portrait of several people, under borrowed names, even to mine ... "The key at the end of the volume reveals the real name people from the story and the place.
