Daniel DEFOE La Vie et les Avantures Surprenantes de Robinson Crusoe

Daniel DEFOE

La Vie et les Avantures Surprenantes de Robinson Crusoe

Chez Chatelain et fils, à Amsterdam 1776, in-12 (9x17cm), (4) viij, 192 (4) 398pp (2). et (4) x, 192 (4) 391pp., 4 tomes reliés en 2 volumes.

New edition, after the French original published by the same publisher in 1720 and is illustrated with a frontispiece and 5 engravings first volume, and a frontispiece and 4 prints in the second volume. The figures are not signed and are pretty rough (which could be a reprint figures Scottin).
Full Sheepskin marbled time. Back tooled raised. Part of title morocco tan, and volume number in red morocco. Tail cap Volume II leveled, that of head missing part with a tear. Missing piece volume number of Volume II and part of the play's title. A pale wetness at the bottom of the title page of Volume II and the frontispiece.
Most famous work of a prolific author, Robinson Crusoe is the only novel of the eighteenth to have the rank of a myth. He was not only a huge success but spawned a whole literature. We often forget the second part of the novel, resulting in a circumnavigation existential thought. --- Please note that the translation in english is done automatically, we apologize if the formulas are inaccurate.
