First illustrated edition of 20 engravings by C. Van Sichem (initials, ornaments, and text in a frame) and printed in Gothic.
Our copy is presented paperback in a contemporary case in half morocco with old rose nerves, golden date in the tail, cardboard vellum boards.
Jacob Stratius (Antwerpen 1559-Leuven 1634) was the rector of the Jesuit college in Leuve, he notably wrote compilation works (... Wars of the country of Flanders). This work by Thomas A Kempis is also a compilation and an edition by Jean Stratius.
Rare work absent from the BN of France and the French catalogs, a copy is listed in the British Library.
