New edition, after the original from 1704. Calf Full time. Back tooled raised. Part of title in red morocco. Tail headdress threadbare. Orations Mascaron were collected by the abbot Bordes in 1704. The book contains a biography of the Bishop of Agen and prayers Anne of Austria, Henrietta of England, the Duke of Beaufort, Pierre Seguier Turenne. Masacaron was a famous Oratorian born in Marseille in 1634. "His funeral orations that make him one of the great orators of the royal chair, were highly appreciated by Miss Scudery, Madame de Sevigne, Flechier and King. Powerful breath, epic (for Turenne). Apostrophes pathetic metaphors further, strong antitheses and syntax accumulation. Mascaron type is representative of the highest religious eloquence but also courtesan "(D.
