New edition, the first edition having been published in Lisbon in 1556 and reprinted many times. Date colophon. 1585 Title page in red and black. Brand of printer in the title page. Printing on both columns. Many inscriptions written in pen in the margins and on the back of the title page. Edition adorned headbands, initials and tail-lamp. Full contemporary parchment. Smooth back with title pen and remains a small pen drawing on the back. Traces of laces. Good copy. Cient Pagnino was certainly one of the greatest biblical scholars and philologists of his time; Florentine, he followed the teachings of Savonarola and received the protection of the Medici for his erudition and his oratorical talents. His biblical commentaries even earned him the admiration of the rabbis, for his commitment to the letter of the Hebrew. Jeronimo da Azambuja is responsible for this edition, he glazed her notes and comments.
