First Edition. Rare. Dedication to Monseigneur the Duke of Orleans, Philippe Egalite, Chartres was then in the same court qu'Orléans.bindings romantic half blond sheepskin. Back smooth decorated with jewels and gold striping. Corners slightly bumped. A few pages of Volume II slightly stained. Rare book does not only interesting, as its title might portend, to history, but also the geography of the city of Chartres, causing main thoroughfares. The author, lawyer and surveyor of the city is well documented in the archives and brought together all that was written remarkably since the beginning of the city, stories, events ... The book proceeds chronologically from what is known of the oldest Chartres until 1786 in the form of annals. Information on agriculture, trade, customs ... A very useful and detailed index at the end of volume. Ultimately, directory of famous men of the country with biographical Chartres.
