Rare first edition.

It is stipulated that this diary was written by one of the 500 volunteers who composed the expedition commanded by François d'Aubusson, duke of La Feuillade, in order to help the republic of Venice to contain the assault of the Turks against the Crete . This expedition was undertaken under the sole head of La Feuillade, which was assisted by Pope Clement IX. La Feuillade had previously distinguished himself in the battle of Saint-Gothart against the Turks, he will be made later Marshal of France and Viceroy of Sicily.
