Lucien Guitry recommends Nadia Koustine (known as Charlane), one of his favorite actresses, to Leon Volterra, one of the most important directors of nineteenth century turn-of-the-century theaters, in a letter in which the comedian's sarcastic humor : "It is simply because I do not need it immediately that I recommend it to you otherwise you could drag yourself to my knees, I would refuse you (by shedding some hypocritical tears) "
