Second edition, illustrated with a frontispiece, a map (road from Paris to Versailles) and many woods engraved in the text by Trimolet, Daubigny, French, etc. in the romantic way (text frames, culs-de-lampe, headers, in-text ... At pp. 316, 317, 341 and 412 are empty frames of engravings that have never been published.
Publisher's cardboard in full black waffled percaline. Back decorated with large ornamental irons. Large decorative plate on the upper plate, small plate on the lower plate. Golden slices. Back insolated and turned green, gilding very faded. Some foxinges. Nice copy.
This beautiful publication, perfectly executed, is interested in describing and narrating all that we then knew of Versailles, as much from the point of view of the fine arts and the architecture as of the life of the people who lived there.
