First edition copiously illustrated in photogravures from contemporary documents and engravings, and 22 inset portraits. Superb print on great white vellum, inset on strong vellum.
Publisher's binding in full burgundy sheepskin. Back with false nerves adorned with 5 crowns framed with cold ornaments. Plates richly decorated with an iron radiating in the central sun; Broad band of fleurdelysée frame separated by cold crowns. 2 engravings detached. Traces of friction in caps, with the joints, on the corners, otherwise splendid copy with the immaculate paper.
By skillfully compiling writers and testimonies, the author draws a portrait of the century of Louis XIV. Very nice edition that is not worth its abundance of well printed documents, here set in a beautiful publisher binding.
