Rare collector's head of the famous pamphleteer magazine hosted by the controversial Henri Rochefort, the fiercest opponent, with Victor Hugo (who hosted him elsewhere in Brussels, Henri Rochefort had to flee the wrath of the regime he was exhausting the length of number), of Napoleon III.
Some foxinges.
Binding in half red shagreen, back with four nerves adorned with gilded florets, marbled paper plates, the first flat wiped underwash, guards and contreplats of handmade paper, Contemporary binding.
The copy was a little trimmed without any infringement to the text.
It contains well, in the preamble of the first issue, the phrase that made famous this magazine sold clandestinely and winning more and more sales success: "France contains [...] thirty-six million subjects, not counting the subjects of dissatisfaction. "
