French gallery or collection of portraits of men and women who have shown France in the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth century. First edition. A supplement published a few years later. The index is missing in the last volume. Black sheepskin half threaded, smooth back. Excellent condition, a few scattered spots in margins but on a very white paper. The three volumes contain 65 prints respectively, 60 and 62 engravings. Historical records with respect to each portrait, which include a few pages are the work of Villemain, Andrieux, Denon, Boissy d'Anglas and others ... portraits of Mr Chrétien, Rulhman, weber ... Many college similes add to the interest of the book, which contains portraits that are found nowhere else.
