Fourth and best edition of this famous collection of costumes.Graesse, VII, 267: "This new edition reproduces exactly all the costumes figured in the first three, but this time drawn more correctly by M. Seguin and engraved on wood by M. Huyot. " It contains 513 woodcut costume boards in various framing; the text itself in Renaissance type frames. The set is printed on beautiful fine vellum paper. Each double page has a costume and its legend opposite in Italian and French.
Binders half black shagreen vintage. Back with nerves adorned with 4 florets. Title and volume pieces of black shagreen. Golden slices. Very rare scattered bites. Beautiful paper copy of a beautiful freshness.
