New edition printed on rod and enriched with an introduction and notes by Charles Asselineau.
Binding in full blue morocco night, back with five nerves set with ornate golden dotted double richly decorated coffered typographical motifs and angles of a golden lily in their centers, golden friezes head and tail, on golden wheels caps, gilded frames triple nets on the boards ornamented spandrels of golden lilies, golden wheels on contreplats, guards and contreplats of handmade paper, double gilt fillets on the cuts, preserved covers, all edges gilt, magnificent binding English signed by Hardy.
Book illustrated a portrait of Madame de Caylus frontispiece and 4 figures engraved on steel by Leman.
Our copy is complete the second state of the 5 illustrations.
Provenance: the Earl of Cromer library with its beautiful aristocratic bookplate engraved by JF Badeley and pasted on a contreplat.
Beautiful copy superbly set in an English bound in full morocco.
