the astonishing diversity typographical Note regarding illustration (text frames, cul-de-lamp ...). The wood Gavarni and satirical captions are an incredible profusion illustrative as early comics.

extraordinary book and typically romantic, the Devil in Paris brings together texts with the prestigious signature (the philosophy of married life of Balzac Mimi Pinson de Musset ...) and provides them with an abundant illustration. This type of book follows the huge success that met the Physiologies and crunches Parisian characters morally and physically. The first volume is preceded by a history of Paris by Lavallée and the second in a geography of Paris (end of volume Statistics of Paris). This table of the capital is the most interesting because it precedes the major changes that will experience Paris under the Second Empire.
