First edition, a numbered copy on alfa paper numbered for each copy, these copies reserved for former Free French and members of veterans’ and Resistance associations from the War.
Autograph inscription signed and dated by Charles De Gaulle to Claude Bénédick, former Secretary general of the Comédie Française, to first volume, manuscript signature of De Gaulle to subsequent volumes.
A few light fold-marks to margins of some covers, spine slightly discolored.
A good copy with a moving autograph inscription signed to a figure in the French theatre, proof of a lasting interest of the General’s, who created the first Ministry of Cultural Affairs, which he put under the care of André Malraux.
