First edition, a badge rarity, the first two volumes of The Princess of Cleves, on the 4 existing. Tchemerzine III, 838 The novel is also described by Brunet in two Vol. in 12, we have here the first volume, containing the first two parts. The Princess of Cleves is indeed one of the rarest works of the seventeenth. Full Sheepskin brown vintage. Back tooled raised. Upper cover torn off. Lack along the upper jaw of the first caissons. Tail cap threadbare. He seems to miss the first page of White Guard, before the title page. The volume bears no room volume number. The Princess of Cleves is perhaps the most important work of the French romantic literature of the seventeenth, by its nature, most modern and treatment she does sublir the new history by introducing psychological analysis.
