Collective first edition complete works of Marivaux. A portrait of Saint Aubin in a frame of Marillier at the frontispiece. Copy on Holland paper paper. Brunet says: "It was printed copies of this edition on paper Holland paper, but it is very difficult to find them well connected. Volume III, 1435.
Binders of the time in navy blue cardboard bradel. Back decorated with wheels. title labels in orange morocco. Golden tomatoes. Back uniformly darkened. Slight cleft in volume II at the tail. Friction. Some scattered foxinges, on a rather fresh paper.
Binding full brown marbled vintage brown sheepskin. Back with nerves adorned decorated decaissons, roulettes tail. Title and volume coins in tawny morocco. Triple framing net on the boards. Misses at the head of the volumes II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, IX and XI. Upper joint of volume I cracked and fragile tail. Lower joint of volume VI split at the head on half the volume. Lower joint of volume IX slotted in tail. Lower joint of volume XI split in the lead. Despite the mentioned flaws, beautiful set in a quality decorative binding.
Unique old edition bringing together theater and narrative work. As indicated by Tchemerzine (VII, 437-438), the edition of 1825-1830 is less complete, only one other text of Marivaux not included in this edition will be published in addition, in 1922: La Provinciale; moreover, the 1825 edition does not reproduce all the works contained in the 12th volume.
