Binding in half black heartache of the time. Back to nerves decorated with nets. Golden title. Scattered freckles.

On March 20, 1883, Guy de Maupassant signed a nine-year contract with the publishers Rouveyre and Blond guaranteeing a first run of two thousand copies. The collection is made up of 17 short stories. The first short story serves as a framework narrative, recalling in its structure the Decameron, where each protagonist tells a story.
