First Edition. Illustrated three frontispieces Marillier finely engraved by Le Beau. 4 tunes recorded on several boards. Half Velin early nineteenth to small corners. Smooth back. Parts of title and volume number of black gold-framed nets fat. Medieval novel set under Louis XI and Charles VI inspired tales and fables of the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. The author explains the choice of vocabulary and its old style in a long preface to the novel and comment on stories and fables of the Middle Ages and the troubadours of Provence, followed by a speech on the novel . Charles Joseph Mayer (1751-1825), French writer and publisher of the Cabinet of fairies, its critical role was important for the rediscovery of ancient literature.
