First illustrated edition of 53 drawings of Benett and a map. AB catalog in fine for the year 1880.
Publisher cardboard says "Aux initials" with the rare navy blue color. Upper plate signed Berger in beautiful condition, with bright gold, with a zone in the Greek border high discolored or rubbed. Second flat of type C2 of Magnier in very good condition with small scraped areas. Back net, with the tail cap with small gaps of percaline and the 2 headdresses rubbed. Blunt corners. A leaflet slightly out. paper in the whole clean with some foxing on the first pages. All in all a nice copy in a good condition.
One of the most famous titles of Jules Verne which will give rise to adaptations to the cinema. This adventure novel revolves around a simple morality, that one must have known misfortunes and fear to appreciate the value of life. This is how a Chinese millionaire no longer likes anything. The latter finds himself ruined and decides to kill himself, but experiencing nothing at the time of suicide, he asks his friend to kill him in a timely manner. The hero learns later that he is not ruined. He wants to live and marry Lé-Ou. It is not to mention the threat of death that weighs on him and the difficulty of finding his friend in pursuit.
