First french edition in original and posterior part of a year to the original, one of 10 copies on Holland paper, only two leading copies with China. Binding to bradel half calico cherry, smooth back with a gold floral motif, date and double fillet golden tail, part of title rubbed black morocco, marbled paper boards, preserved covers, gilded head, binding signed cold Pierson. Valuable and rare autograph dedication signed by the author Jules Pelletier, Secretary General of the Ministry of State which Gautier lent his pen. He thanked him for interceding with the emperor who appointed him an Officer of the Legion of Honor on August 7 1858 Our copy is complete, frontispiece portrait of H. de Balzac shot and burned in China etching by E.
