Spanish prolific writer, Francisco Santos (1618-1696), who was his military state, is famous for his novels and short stories in which picaresque drew plenty Lesage for Gil Blas and his lame Devil. He defends the poor against the rich, and the humble against the wealthy, typical attitude of the picaresque novel, and reflects the Madrid and Spanish society.
