First edition of the French translation by Georges Guiffrey.
Binding half red shagreen, back with five nerves decorated with gilded initials of great bibliophile Roger Cormenin repeated five times, marbled paper plates, guards and contreplats of handmade paper, sprinkled edges, slightly later binding.
Provenance: the library Cormenin Roger, son of Louis de Cormenin who was the confidant and secretary of Théophile Gautier and also a close friend of Gustave Flaubert.
Pleasant beautifully drawn copy.
