Houssiaux 1870, In-8 (13,5x21,8cm), 20 tomes en 20 volumes reliés.


Reprint works in Houssiaux which bought the bottom of the library Furne, in which the works were originally published, he completed the three new volumes (Theater, comical tales ...) that appear for the first time in the works in 1855 and not in 1853. The edition will be reprinted in 1855 and 1870.
Binding half black shagreen strictly vintage. Back with nerves decorated with nets on the nerves and a golden frame for the title and the volume number. Titles and volume numbers gilded. Some rubbed caps, sometimes with tiny gaps leather, but very beautiful set in a good vintage binder (which is already rare) and moreover in a very nice freshness (very few small scattered spots) d a good white paper (prints, printed on different paper (strong) are often more yellow. The Volume XII was bound in brown shagreen and not green, although in the same leather and using the same paper, in addition to the cold irons are significantly different.
Illustrated book of 145 boards inset by the best artists of the time including Bertall, Daumier, Gavarni, Johannot, Nanteuil and rare illustrations in-text.
As always with these editions of the complete works, ours has, one is tempted to say "naturally" some notable features.
