New edition of the complete works of Victor Hugo now at Houssiaux, who had bought the bottom of the editions Furne.
Bindings in half brown shagreen, back with five nerves adorned with cold boxes and gilded florets, double cold net at the head and tail of the back, triple cold net framing boards, guards and contreplats of handmade paper. Volumes are in series, 1 to 6 for poetry, 1 to 4 for drama, and so on.
Illustrated set of a vignette on each title page, 100 inset engravings (notably by Pisan, Sternhel, Rogier etc.) including three frontispiece plates of three volumes (
Poetry T.1,
Roman T.3 and T. 4) and a reproduction of a manuscript drawing of Hugo in Volume 1 of the
Rhine , p.265.
