First popular edition illustrated with Hetzel by Beaucé, Nanteuil, Gérard Seguin and Foulquier, of woodcuts in text. This edition is very rare and we do not meet it very often, even less complete and in good condition. Clouzot (Guide to the French bibliophile) himself does not cite it and probably did not know it.
Posterior binding early twentieth in the style of the time. Half raspberry shagreen, back evenly turned red. Perfect freshness of the paper and flawless condition for this set.
Superb copy, very rare in this condition.
