New edition, illustrated with 41 engravings and a map for From the Earth to the Moon by De Montaut and engraved by Pannemaker, and 40 engravings by Bayard and Neuville engraved by Hildibrand. 4 chromolithographs by Roux for From the earth to the moon, and 4 for Around the moon.
"Golden globe" type 3 cardboard in one piece, and the second flat Engel h.
Beautiful first blak, clear and bright with light soiling in the sky to the right of the cartridge Jules Verne, and a small whitish spot under the N of Around the moon. A rubbed and blunt corner. The corners a little folded. Headdresses rubbed and folded. Back in beautiful condition. Second flat good but with two small scraped areas. Internal hinge playing a little. Fresh copy, without freckles. Nice copy overall.
Mythical science fiction titles of the author, rare in this cartonnage. In the first novel of this diptych, the Gin club of Baltimore, after the Secession War, attempts to send men to the moon in a shell. In Around the Moon: Three men are fired from a cannon in a shell bound for the moon. We know how the imagination based on Jules Verne's scientific knowledge will be premonitory and inspire many artists.
