Makemono de 11 scènes chinoises érotiques. Rêve de printemps

Roll unfolding horizontally with a title sheet of 3 ideograms (Rêve de printemps) and 11 prints in colors mounted on silk (in fact one consisting of 11 scenes). Completely unrolled, the whole reaches 250cm. The roll is kept closed by a string, the paper is wrapped around a piece of wood.
The roller, consisting of a relatively thick paper is covered with a fine silk on the place where the engraving is stuck The 11 scenes consist of a single long print on 180 cm, we can see by the presence of the low margin which was thus printed several times on a large sheet several times these 11 scenes. This type of printing required a large press. Each scene measures approximately 16x20cm.
It is very difficult to accurately date this type of anonymous production, which can be located at the end of the 19th century until the 1930s, or even beyond. The 11 scenes include romantic lovemaking and sexual practices with more diversity than in Japanese erotic prints (shunga). The scenes take place outdoors, among lush nature or in richly furnished interiors. Painters had specialized in this type of painting and it is not uncommon to find certain prints mixed with other collections.
