First edition edition of Boilvin's 7 etchings (including an engraved and illustrated title) and a portrait of Flaubert on the frontispiece. Beautiful edition, beautifully printed on beautiful tinted and glazed vellum paper. The engravings are drawn on laid and captioned. The engraving on p. 278 of volume 2 sees the breasts of Madame Bovary partially covered and her lover disappeared from her room.
Binding in full hazelnut morocco, glazed contemporary. Back to Jansenist nerves. Golden title and number. Rich interior frieze. Particularly fresh golden slices. Beautiful paper completely free of freckles.
Very nice copy.
